Repurposing- Second Draft
The second draft for my re-purposing project was a major improvement from my first. After feedback from my peers and professor, I was able have a fresh start with the piece. For example, my peers offered some great feedback by suggesting I add more examples of the obsessive thoughts and compulsions in italics and talk more about how the media portrays OCD. Also, my professor and I discussed the benefits of writing the repurposing piece for an online platform that already worked to fight the stigma of mental illness in society. From there I decided that I wanted to write this piece in the form of a HelloGiggles article. This allowed me to showcase my own personal voice, while giving me the opportunity to eventually share my work with a larger audience--possibly on the HelloGiggles site! This was exciting and scary because for the first time I felt like my piece could really make a difference in the lives of other people suffering from mental illness.
