5 Things About Maddy
1. I love anchors
This may or may not come as a surprise to you (hint: look at my background image), but I have always loved anchors. Whether it be the nautical bracelet I wear everyday or the anchor I sewed on my backpack freshmen year, I am always sporting the symbol in some capacity. My obsession even won me the title of "Most Likely to Sail Away" my senior year of high school. For me, the anchor holds a ton of symbolism--stability, strength, hope--and I love living everyday with an anchor right by my side.
2. I am obsessed with decorative planners
By combining my Type A nature with my love for cutsey things off of Pinterest, I have developed an ultra-obsession with planners that not only help me organize my life, but also are super pretty. I'm already constantly planning my life out, so why not do it in style? The planner pictured to the left is from Rifle Paper Co., a brand of stationary pieces I absolutely love (seriously, I spend hours on their wesbite looking at lined notebooks and wall calendars).
3. Breakfast food is life
What is better than a plate of fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, and fresh cut fruit? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Apparently my love for all things breakfast started at a young age when I would sit in my high chair and gobble up eggs like it was my job--I was two. Now I just love making brunch dates and cooking breakfast for every meal of the day. As the great Ron Swason once said, "There has never been a sadness that can't be cured by breakfast food."
4. I love what I am studying
I am a declared Communication Studies major with a double minor in Digital Studies and Writing. All three of these areas of study allow me to learn about current culture and media and how to write about those things. I love that my degree is allowing me to study material that is relevant and applicable to what is happening right now in the world. I hope to take what I learned at UofM and enter the field of marketing, public relations, and event planning.
5. I work for the fashion magazine on campus
I have been on the SHEI Magazine team since my freshmen year, and I absolutely love it! This is my first year holding a position on the executive board as Outreach Coordinator. Our staff works tirelessly to design and produce content for our twice yearly print publication and monthly digital publication, SHIFT. The magazine is entirely student run and full of so much talent, it's awesome (I can say this because my job is to promote the magazine, not create it)!
