high school Musical: More than Just a DCOM

The artifact below is from my Upper-Level Writing Course for my Communication Studies major, COMM 365: Visual Culture and Visual Literacy. We were tasked with writing a final paper based on a previous blog post for the class. For the original blog post,  I wrote about a clip from High School Musical 2  where two of the main characters sing and dance to the hit song "Fabulous." I discussed the sexualized nature of the characters in the clip and wanted to expand on that in my final paper for the course. The essay below explores hidden themes of sexuality, queerness, and patriarchal ideals through semiotic and visual psychoanalysis techniques.
